WW2 Morris CS 8? Brisbane Australia
G'day All, Information from the REMLR.com site apparently there is a Morris CS 8? in a wrecking yard in Carina (suburb? Brisbane) more specifcally Carina Auto wreckers, Preston Road, Carina the man to talk to is Howard Beattie ph 07 3843 0611, apparently he is looking to retire and is currently doing a clean up of the site, so if any one out is interested make your moves quickly or this item will be lost forever, I have no photo's or further information cheers and hoping some-one saves it from the scrap pile Dennis

The particular CS8 you refer to has been known about for years . A few people have approached the owner , Howard , but he always wanted too much for it , that is why it has been sitting in his yard rotting away . You know the story " yeah mate , only 5 of these came to Australia , they are very rare" ... etc. Lanes Motors in Melbourne were flogging them off in 1945 , to essential users . At least 200 were sold through their dealerships around Victoria . The CFA had a few too . I hope somebody up there saves it . There is another one in Brisbane also , owned by a MJCQ member , he wants a motor for it . The third QLD one, owned by the late Ken Hughes of Kingaroy , has dissapeared . He offered it to me years ago , but way too much , and it's is so far away from here . If the potential new owner wants any help , contact me . I have accumulated quite a bit of info on them . My 3rd CS8 wreck came from QLD , I suspect they were sold out of a surplus yard up there somewhere . People here often call the British 15 cwt range English Blitz's . Mike .

G'day Mike, I have no interest in getting hold of said machine as it's way too far away for me as well (double the distance for you ) It's the same old thing, I come across it all the time in my never ending search for ex-military Land Rovers particularly the Series 2A of which I have quite a few (link > http://www.remlr.com/dmshed.html if you want to look) the website is out of step with my restorations all are restored now, everyone who is not really connected with the restoration of any type of vehicles they all seem to think that they are sitting on a superannuation scheme that is building by the minute as it slowly rusts away, or you get the 'Gunna' do it up 1 day anyway mate cheers for now Dennis

its going to vacation at the big bananna in sunny NSW for a year or so till im ready to pick it up . seems that it comes with a load of extra parts and all will need to be bead blasted and primed prior to boxing up and making the trip as "spair parts". a guy here wants to shair the container with a FJ holden to be used as a hot rod here in the US.
i still have a hard time explaining to people why i have a yard full of pommy steel

You are ' keener than mustard' . Check for rust in the chassis , they are a bugger for that . The examples I have found all seem to suffer from the 'ironitis' disease in the chassis . Out of the three wrecks i have , i may just be able to make up a half decent CS8 . I have enough spare axles and stuff like that , its the bodywork that is missing . pic is Brian Cook's ( Wales) drawing of the cab floor , aero screen model . Mike

Brian travelled down to Duxford to measure up an original CS8 floor , so the drawings should be very accurate . NOTE: The U channel marked as 1/32" on this drawing , is more likely to have been 1/16" ? 1/32" seems very light to me .

battery boxes
This pic depicts the correct battery box setup on the CS8 . Note , the floor on this truck has been narrowed / cut , on the LHS , to enable the fit into the Biscuit bomber - Dakota doorway
Looks like they have pinched a seat from a Bedford MW too ? Mike

For those in OZ . there is a Morris web forum:
http://www.moreg.org.au/forums/index.php Not very active though , it's aimed at Morris cars , more than anything else . Mike The MCC club in the UK has a web forum also, again , not much traffic there .

most of us who have morrises try not it get around, next thing you know the trabant, AMC gremlen, GM chevett, and ford pinto clubs will start contacting us. they think we are easy marks we are in denial most of the time (i spent how much for a what???)

G'day All, Dave don't worry too much about the rubbishing you get from other's as we Land Rover owners cop it all the time at Corowa, I (we) don't care, we are pretty tough like our trucks and we can handle it an FJ in the USA, gee that's a turn around, it's usually big block Chev's and Ford's seem to be all the go, well if I see anything thats any good at the local swap meet here in cessnock in August I will let you know cheers mate Dennis

I wasn't kidding about the ZETA . Lightburn made washing machines and concrete mixers from memory . Why they decided to make motor cars is beyond me .
