That is one ugly machine, it looks like one of those kids converter toys. No doubt it is hugely practical for its role but give me a Dodge WC or GMC 6x6 for pose value any day. I'd even accept a CMP and that's saying something.

Proposed replacement for the 6x6 LRPV Land Rover. Much more capable, but a long time being developed.
Now I might have this cocked up, but I seem to remember the SASR first got a Supacat 4x4 to replace their Land Rovers, and then found it couldn't handle the weight of all the gear they wanted to carry. This new vehicle is the result of the 'back to the drawing board' after the initial procurement 'problems'. This vehicle also means they can also dispense with the LRP Unimog 'Mother' used to carry all the supplies for longer periods in the scrub. They won't want many: the total number of LRPVs was only about 24 (or 26? I forget the exact number.) Mike C |

Whats under the bonnet??
Tony, Tony, Tony, Use the link...
Many of the details on the REDFIN are still top secret, but the HMT Extenda is typically powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine, has a top speed of around 75 mph and can ford water over a meter deep. Despite its size, an air suspension allows the big truck to kneel down in order to squeeze into a Chinook-sized helicopter for quick response missions." Rich.
