Shock absorber links
I'm trying to establish the arrangements of the links from the Delco double action shock absorbers to the axle as used on 134" MCP Trucks. I've not come across this system before where the shock absorbers seem to have 2 arms and link to an extension from the bottom of the axle/spring mount. Attached photo shows what I thought the shock absorber looked like based on CMP photos, but the double yoke suggests a double arm on the shocks. Can anyone clarify the setup please?

Is the Y shaped piece not actually hanging from the tow hook and nothing to do with the shock absorber ?

You may be right. School boy error!
There are very few decent photos of this area to work with. Still wondering how the lower horizontal link arm is fitted? I presume it would be rigid/fixed at the spring end? Bolted onto a bracket or the spring retainer plate? It doesn't look attached to bracket on the axle as on CMP axles. Also what shape would the arm on the shock absorber be, straight or curved? |

I'm just wondering if there was a sway (torsion) bar of some kind between the shock arms, if those were the correct shocks?
The "wire" is possibly the opening lever of the tow hook?

Shock absorber
This is from the 1939 shop manual. Is it what you need?

Thanks Paul.
I now understand the bottom link to the underside of the axle/spring. Its bolted onto bottom of the axle /spring mount and is rigid. The link arm from the shock absorber is more or less straight with sideways bends to clear the chassis frame. Thank you for helping me out with this, much appreciated. |
