Rifle and smg mounts, M38A1CDN3
I am curious as to what the standard allocation was, if any installed on M38A1CDN3 jeeps...
Also, proper locations of same when installed.

By the book it was one of each. The FN mount went on the right side with the rubber socket on the floor and the rubberised clip on the dash.
The SMG mount was on the dash originally, but for better security was moved to the floor by the passenger seat. Anything installed beyond that was an illegal modification, although certainly would have made sense. Grunts would likely have had two FNs while zips would have had 2 SMGs. There used to be an Cdn installation kit you ordered for the Jeeps which came with a nifty blue print which showed exactly where to mount everything. There is a CFTO instruction re the relocation of the fire extinguisher and the smg mount. I think we discussed this one on another thread. |

Thanks Rob, I will search out the forum for the info. I located NOS kits for each, just needed to know how many I require.

Happy
Received my smg and rifle mounts, NOS and even got a copy of the nifty mounting diagram you mentioned Rob! You mentioned a field mod re: smg mount of placing on the floor. Any other details as to the particulars of this mod? Also, do the ansul bracket and smg mount share the same area on the dash, that being said, I have holes for both but it seems a tight fit for both side by side? Is this correct?

Chris: I have the same problem...the extinguisher brkt and the SMG brkt are both too close to be fully utile.
I'm going to move the SMG brkt to the floor 'tween the seats, re-mount the extinguisher on the dash (it's presently mounted on the left rear sponson) then go ahead with a dual IKEE set up. BTW, that diagram you have...is it EME Manual VEHICLES E 039 Instr 40 (C30-100-OOO/CF-ON)?

The two do not go on the dash at the same time. The reason why the holes are there for both is because the smg used to be on the dash, and the fire extinguisher on the floor. Now the blue ansul fire extinguisher goes on the dash, and the smg bracket goes on the floor over the tool box.
