Carrier seats
I am currently trying to finish up my MK2 carrier and am working on seats and sear covers but can't find much info on MK2 seat backs. It seems like the backs are the same size on the MK1's my question is are they the same size on the MK2 and if not what size are the plywood backs and also the border around the seats where the dot fasteners go is that border 1 1/2 in. With so much knowledge out there I hope someone can help me.
Thanks Larry |

Here is what I have Larry. My seat backs are original although the gunners cushion is one I had made.
The wooden backs are 1/2" plywood with radiused corners. I gather that a drivers seat belt was available for the MK2's....Hence the hole in the middle of the rest. The hole in mine is not exactly central horizontally, but it lines up perfectly with the cushion although the bottom of the hole does not go down to the bottom of the hole in the cushion? Perhaps it just didn't matter that much?. Let me know if you need anything else. Ron PS I don't know why but the scan is a link to click instead of a picture? |

The Sutton harness fittings may appear on the majority of Canadian factory built C31UCW No-2 MK-II* carriers, however: the appropriate driver seat-back is not as common.
Driver seat backs for the Canadian MK-II* are interchangeable with the second model seat backs found on the Canadian MK-I* driver and gunner positions. When I say second model, that is to say it has a single mounting bar across the upper portion, and two hooks positioned in the lower portion to allow the use of the lower ‘lumbar’ adjustment. Recalling the British and early Canadian MK-I* used two mounting bars and adjusted the distance by having two hook placements on the brackets attached to the divisional wall. A limited number of mounting bars have been reproduced and are available for purchase. |

I have an original plywood back for the gunners seat but that is only 3/8" thick so I take it that the two seats are made of different thicknesses of ply?
