PRC-77 technician wanted
Wanting to know who has the know-how to test, repair, calibrate PRC77 type radios here in Canada, preferably in Ontario?
I have a couple that work, sort of that need some attention.

Prick 25/77
My advice is this; a. Tie an 8m length of rope thru the carry handle, b. Row out to the middle of the Ottawa River, c. Throw the radio as far as you can upstream to act as an anchor d. Oooops...did I forget to tie the other end of the rope to the boat? e. Row back to shore for another anch..er radio. f. Repeat a. thru e. as required.
Cheers Wayne Ps Bitter?...Me?...

Understandably Wayne, some of the items we collect are or were a thorn when in use.
Aside from that though, they are still worthy of attention nevertheless. If I wanted modern communication I would use my iPhone. I know collectors who enjoy the Iltis, bren gun carrier and M715. To most servicemen these were all junk on day one.

I think you only scored one out of three on that one Chris.

Hey Rob, I knew you would chime in on this one.
As far as the carrier goes, I have talked at length with more than one vet who hated them. One fellow was especially bitter after his Dieppe experience landed him in a POW camp for the remainder of the war. This happened after a hasty retreat landed them with a carrier hung up on a tree stump. While they were trying to get it dislodged, the Germans caught up with them. On the M715 front, while decent enough in the service, they were underpowered and in the end surplussed due to their less than lackluster performance and poor engine design. Iltis, well, they were what they were.

Chris, failing the Texas option, I have these two items which may help...
AN/PRM-34 and AN/GRM-55 Test Sets. These units will diagnose a fault but correcting the fault would probably involve some electromechanical knowledge. I'll lend them to you or we can negotiate a sale price. Perhaps you can google them and see if they fit your requirements. BTW, where did we leave our discussions about the Bendix connector kit and the PRC-25 accessory pouches and the harnesses?
