Default CFR Number Information Requests Thread

**UPDATE 11 August 2015**

The EDR Viewer as we knew it is no longer available. There is a basic version of the database which is very limited in what information it contains, and the age of the vehicles that it covers.

Hey Fellas,

There are a few of us who are able to access the DND EDR Viewer which provides CFR information. The only issue at this time is that as new vehicles come into the CF/DND, old CFR info is "overwritten", so, more or less daily, the info on older iron decreases.

With a minimum of having your CFR or Mfg Serial Number, we are able to find details about the Units/Regiments your MV served with, as well as some basic maintenance/mileage history. The more info you can provide (Stickers, TAC Signs, Numbers, the Base you think it may have come from) the better as sometimes it can be a VERY time consuming search if all you have is a Serial Number.

CFR/CAR Number info in the Database is limited to:
M38A1CDN2 (1967-68 version),
M38A1CDN3 (1971 version),
M151A2,
Iltis,
CJ-7, YJ,
M35, M36, MLVW,
CUCV or 5/4,
Ferret,
Artillery,
M100 and other Trailers.

There is no Data available for:
M38CDN,
M38A1CDN (1953 version),
M37, M43, M152 or other variants of the Dodge Power Wagon,
M135, M211.

If I haven't listed it above, just ask

I've attached an example of the information on my M151A2 as it appears in the EDR Viewer in the pics below, and what it looks like when I export it to Excel and then paste it into a post here.

Scotty, any chance that you can pull up more info on my M38A1 CDN2 than you were able to before, or are you still limited to the info you can access from the DND server? The truck's CFR is 67-08251 and previously the info you gave me was missing the NSN, purchase price etc.

Thanks, Peter Z.

Sadly, no I can't at the moment.

There are two databases. One for which I presume is the Transport folks, and the other better one, the Supply and Maintainers etc.

Since I have moved to Gagetown, I can no longer access the better EDR Viewer due to some software issues.

With the watered down database, the older the Vehicle, the less info shows up, ie, for an M38A1/M151A2 only the last VMO appears. With the Iltis, all of the VMO appear.

1978 would have made it an M151 Trailer. There was no CFR pencilled under where the license plate used to be. Serial Number 0917.

Default Iltis information

I was wondering if I could also get some information about my Iltis?
The VIN is BI01-02-85-86489
There is also AA5237 stenciled inside the rear passenger door but I suspect the doors may not be original to this vehicle.
Any information you may have is greatly appreciated.

As you receive the requested information through the good graces of Craig and others, and you don't mind sharing this with the world, send me the info by PM and I will add it to the M38A1 database found at RamTank.ca
Cheers,
Clive

Default Request for Info

After reading all the requests for CFR numbers I feel a little intrusive. However It seems I have received more information and help from this forum in the last couple of months than my searching in over a year. I live in Connecticut, United States and bought a M38A1 which I believe is a CDN2.
It was purchased by the previous owner from Canada a couple of years ago. I am a member of the Connecticut Military Vehicle Collectors Inc of which I am proud to have been a past president. The chance to restore a Canadian jeep is exciting to me. All too many times I've seen the pratice of a restored USA jeep mounted with machine guns and Military Police markers. It would have you think every jeep was a gun jeep. So the chance to make an histortic Canadian jeep is exciting. I have been told the CFR numbers on it are wrong. The color is wrong and other marking are wrongand placement is wrong.
The number on it is 67-97211. I was told the number should be 67-07740
So I'll ask for as much info on this jeep as I can, so as I can make it back to the way it was equiped with the units it was in. Hopefully late 60s.

So here are the facts.
Data plate indicates the jeep was made NOV 67, Ser # is 7105-97211.
Vehicle has a SMG holder on the dash. Also has butt plate holder on the floor on the passenger side. Right side of vehicle has welded holes in the pattern and placement of a machine gun mount. Two more holes just forward of slave cable recepticle.e
That's it.
I wish to thank the people who have helped me in the past and and in the future.

Bob

Just copied what info there is on your 5/4. The numbers (28542/CKL2461154766) match and the info states it was located in Norway. Says it was disposed of in May 1997. I'll edit the info and post it tonight or tomorrow for you. How much trouble is it to get parts to maintain the truck? Did you get any of the manuals or many parts with it? Cheers,

Craig

Craig,

How far back can you trace a CFR number? Can you find the following:

54-82540 ?

Its a Ferret Scout car which would have been disposed of sometime in the early 80's...

Cheers

BMills -

There is a record - or there was last year when I copied the lot of them. The only pertinent info I have now is it spent time in Valcartier, UIC 0106. I'll look in the morning to see if more info remains in the database. Cheers,

Craig

Amazing man, just amazing.
Thank you so much for all the help!

It's quite easy to get parts over here, the amcar-society in Norway is fairly big, we've had american collectors looking to scandinavia for cars they can't find in the US.
No manuals came with the truck (so if there are original army manuals in circulation, i'm interested!), what i did get was a heater and a cab for the truckbed, and soon the benches so...
Oh, and one original plate-rim with tyre.

The photo you show is of a condition and identity tag for a 24 volt alternator. The CFR in the tag could be for the truck that the alternator was either cannibalized from or possibly removed from and later repaired. It could also be the CFR of a truck the alt was ordered for.
Whichever way you look at it, that number is meaningless for your truck.
In another thread you showed the CFR spray painted onto the hood of your truck. That kind of thing was somewhat common, especially for trucks constantly on ex with the license plates covered over or removed for camouflage.

Edited to correct the info on the alternator: It is for the standard GM 12V 61 amp commercial alternator, and not for the 24V alt as I suggested in the above. Sorry.

Those 'rainbow' condition tags are a good document if you need to figure out what something is called. The UIC is a 4-digit code for a particular unit. The NATO Stock Number is self-explanitory. A parts list is your next acquisition.

Default Iltis CFR info request

Hello to everyone,

I would like to know if somebody may help me find the history behind my new acquisition. I just bought a Bombardier Iltis.
The serial number is BI01118486116.

Thanks

Capt B
