British 15-cwt truck prototypes
Series of photos "scanned from a mag" by Peter Chowns, showing the attempts by the War Department to design a suitable 15-cwt 4x2 truck in the 1930s. Austin, Bedford, Commer, Ford, Guy, Morris-Commercial were all in the game. Not all of the prototypes would evolve into series production, but all manufacturers would be involved in the massive mechanisation programme of the W.D.

MCC first
MCC made the first 15 cwt WD prototype in 1934, using their C civilian range as a source for parts. The special WD rims were a collaboration with Dunlop and the WD. I have the article written by David Fletcher somewhere. The other makes , Guy, Bedford and Commer and much later on Fordson, more or less copied the MCC layout. The Austin is a new one to me !
