Default More help, please.

While I'm in the mood to struggle with this b****y keyboard, two more cries for help, please.
1. I have a Mercury engine with this letter/number sequence stamped on the RH front valley face:
B/L 1658 /10
I can't find a recognisable Ford no. anywhere and I doubt it was made or rebuilt by British Leyland, so can anybody explain it, please?
2. A local friend has a C60L with the not unusual exhaust manifold problems. I seem to recall a recent discussion about a stainless steel replacement. Can someone point me in the direction of the manufacturer, please?
Many thanks,
Rhett.
