Talking oh, oh me first.

Here's some pics of our group getting ready for the Reserve Forces Day in Adelaide.

Our Bob Moseley drove David Lean's LR101 towing the 25pdr

Darian Carn drove the 39 Marmon-Herrington LP3 ( ex Col Anderson ) towing the 6pdr ( ex Melbourne Tank Museum )

Tony Dwyer drove his Dodge WC51 ( ex Tony Luke, Adel. ) towing the 2pdr ( ex Col Anderson )

The guns are all in the Ray Carn Collection, along with a coulpe of 40mm Bofors, 105mm WW1 Krupps ( captured by Australian Troops in Bersheeba ), 4.2" Towed Mortar and a couple of 3" Mortars.

The semi towed Ray's White AOP and carrier no. 5000.

Parade was reviewed by the Govenor-General.

Default Governor vs Governor-General

You know he's right.

In South Australia, we only have a Governor, His Excellency
Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AO CSC RANR, whom tooks his post from the former Governor, Mrs Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE.

However, Nationally we have Her Majesty's representative, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC
Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia ( and that's his short title )

I have no clue as to either of their nicknames as I am too far down the food chain ( like the very bottom ) to know either of these gentlemen personnally.

Was paying attention in "Chain Of Command" classes and as soon as I saw the posting I knew that a governor general was a "One of a kind" position and Southern Australia must be like a State or a provincce or territory that would have a separate "Governor"or "head of State"and that there were a bunch of them so there must be a bunch of Governors..but only one Gov-Gen..
Now you are as smart as I am ...

Bravo Sir,

That's amazing. I must confess I thought that you'd Google searched it, sorry.

You are ofcourse exactly correct. Govenor is our head of state for the idividual states and territories. Govenor-General is absolute head of state for entire country, however I can't help but feel that they are as much a figurehead as Her Majesty.

Here however, I can't understand why we require individual state governments as well as a federal government. This means that in Australia we have FIVE levels of government.

1 Local Government ( local council )
2 State Government ( lower house - house of Reps )
3 State Government ( Legislature )
4 Federal House of Representatives ( lower house )
5 Federal Senate ( upper house )

and each of the barstards want their share of tax

Is Ray White a forum member?
Do you have more pictures of his AOP carrier? What model is it?
( I suppose I could look in Nigels book for the model)

Unhappy Ray's White.

You'd be looking for a long time in Nigel's book.

Ray Carn has a White M3 AOP ( Aust ) as in a White Scout Car modified in Australia to AOP role. He also has carriers - 6 of them.

Ray and his son Darian are not members of the forum, just LURKERS.

Default Nice colourisation, Pedr

Wesley College in the background is a creamy colour if you want to go that far with the pic.

It's not far from here.

Default So Pedr, with 5 levels of govt in Oz,

do you see why little old NZ decided to stay independent at the time the commonwealth of Oz was formed?

We have enough tax with one level, plus local government (councils) of course.

Rob

Default Did you know

Did you know that Australian Parliment has vacant seats that have been held since Federation for New Zealand, because it was felt at the time that NZ would become a province of Australia.

Thank god for your sake, that hasn't ever happened. Australia already has a problem that if your not on the east coast, the guberment don't represent you.

Imagine how they'd let NZ languish. All that distance, not many people in their minds....who'd care.

So fight to always maintain your independance, and keep you PM Mr Helen Clarke.

Sorry, I'm a bit behind the times as changes in SA Governors don't rate much of a mention on TV here. It is your PREVIOUS Guv'nor I am referring to.

And don't knock Uncle Helen. He's doing a great job.

NOT MARG!!

The gubermnt are talking about building a new hospital to take over from the Royal Adelaide Hosoital. There is talk of it being named the Marjorie Jackson Nelson Hospital...."the Marg" for short.

Bloody typical.

That's ok, Ken, it seems only a few short years ago that we we're saying the same things here... and now look at us.

Best thing you lot can do is keep the fires burning 'twixt the Times.... the Kiwis have a fine military record of stalwart lads accomplishing great things, and those Times will come again.
