hi everybody,
Just a quick question here. When talking about Blitzs, what is the difference between a MB-C1 and a MB-C2 manual? I don't know myself, I'm thinking is it year of publication? A revised edition? Or maybe it covers completely different topics? Can anybody help? |

Other than the much more dramatic cover on the MB-C2, the contents are very similar. I've always though that the MB-C2 was a way of covering up (only partially successfully) all the errors in the MB-C1.

I have both manuals MB-C1 and MB-C2 there are many differences and I find them both useful particularly as I have 1941 Pattern 12 C60L, 1942 Pattern 13 C60S and a 1945 HUP. Some things are different because of running production changes made through out the period. Having said this if you have a choice I’d go with the later version. But if you really want to understand the Chevy and all the running changes you will enjoy the GM Service Information Bulletin that Alex has. Read through that a you’ll understand the changes on your truck that you may think are post war modifications. My 1941 Pattern 12 had virtually every Service Bulletin modification that would apply, which to me says that most likely was maintain by a energetic motor pool somewhere in Canada through out the war.

The sections of the MBC2 are arranged as ;
A-Model Identification, B-Driver's Instructions, C-Lubrication, D-Wheels,tyres and tyre pump,(tires) E-Brakes, F-Front Axle, G-Steering, H-Rear axle and drive shaft, I-Springs & shock absorbers, J-Frame, K-Engine, L-Clutch, M-Transmission, N-Transfer case, O-Winch, P-Cooling system, Q-Fuel & exhaust, R-Electrical, S-Cab & sheet metal, T-Maintenance requirements, U-Specifications & special tool list, V-Index. Due to the very long time required to scan each page and produce a section available for download it was thought that only the most popular or useful sections would be prepared. In the future more sections may be scanned but if any one requires a complete manual they are often seen at militaria stalls and of course from Alex Blair. |
