| C60S Wrecker

John Newbold's C60S Wrecker is featured in a nice article in HERITAGE COMMERCIALS magazine, June 2003 issue. She is marked up as L 5847924, which is in the batch L 5847850	5847937	SM 6056	'LORRY 3 TON 4 X 4 B/DOWN'.

| C60 wrecker

This is the ex John Marchant truck. The link if I remember right is that John Newbold's Father bought and operated the truck after the war, it then passed onto John Marchant. It was sold at his auction a couple of years ago to John Newbold. Case of what goes round comes round, it's gone to a very good home. Pete |

| Chev CMP restorations in the UK

See the web pages Chevrolet Wrecker Rebuild and Chevrolet Truck Rebuild on the MVT South Cumbria & North Lancs Group website for some interesting restoration pictures. Does anybody know "Jon", the owner of these CMPs? H. |

| I know him

I am the webmaster of the website for the South Cumbria and North Lancs area of the Military Vehicle Trust referred to in your post, so I know Jon well. If you need to get in touch e-mail me and I will pass on a message to him. By the way, how did you find the website as I did not think many search engines had found it yet? My site monitor reported an access via this forum so I will now take a good look at what is being discussed here that may be of use.

I found your website through a link from http://www.solentmvt.co.uk/, whose Chairman & Show Secretary participates regularly on this forum. On the subject of anything of use, I've started a new thread on the Chevrolet "Breadvan" of which I am sure our resident GM Automotive Historian can fill in all the details. Regards, Hanno |

I thought Jon had sold the wrecker to buy the truck, however I was wrong. When I went to his workshop there they both were. The wrecker actually earns its keep by recovering broken vehicles. Jon decided to display both at our recent MVT group weekend, so I thought I would take some pics and show them to you. They were displayed as if the wrecker was recovering the truck, so I captured some of the detail that may be of use.

| Working classics

It's good to know these vehicles still serve a useful purpose. If you look at our website I have posted some pictures from our weekend event at which Jon's wrecker had to pull an articulated lorry out of the mud. It is on the Events 2004 part 2 listing. As I said in the posting title it is definitely still a working classic.
