David, here is one for you
![]() From the IWM collection, it was taken in France, December 1939. As captioned, a FWD R6T ( AEC 850 ) which is towing a light recovery trailer loaded with a Vickers Light tank MkVI, also towing a Carrier. There are several more pics of this vehicle with load and recovering a Morris CS8. Richard |

Some if not all of these in the KID collection are also at Bovington..they may also have more than listed online at the IWM. I have thumbnails from David Flecther but have note compared them directly. One is of a lorry at the FWD/Hardy works, which presumably makes it an early one.

I once found the remains of one of these in a Commercial breakers yard near Leeds in the early 90's, same place that my Retriever came from actually.
The R6T had been used by a Showman and although rough was mostly complete, I’ve no idea what happened to it as the yard has since been cleared I'm told. Pete |

I am sure that I recently came across a pic of one for sale, it was in a shed with other vehicles and on the web somewhere. There was one in preservation in the Dorset area, back in the 70/80 era, think there was a pic of it in an early Windscreen. Richard |

Hello,
There is one of those AEC preserved at Duxford. It doesn't have the crane fitting though. A friend of mine called George Moore and I had a good look at it recently, and George took a lot of dimensions off it. George is an extremely good scratchbuilder of models. His model can be see at the following website. http://www.network54.com/Forum/11074...ge/1132922387/ As this truck has got to be one of the fiddliest trucks ever built, George was obviously a braver man than me to have tackled this project. Regards Nick Balmer |
