As central and eastern Canada slip into the frozen bonds of winter, we on the west coast have noticed a slight decrease in temperature. This required me to bring out the photo album from summer and reflect back. Here are some pics from Freedom Route +60, a 1000 km journey made this past summer by Western Command. It may look like southern Italy but is southern British Columbia, near Penticton.

The first pic is Pat Papworth's C15A. It's named after Smokey Smith with his permission.

As dawn breaks on the first day the convoy gathers. The F11 is Ian Newby's.

I'm sure you meant to write F8 with Cab 11?

Great pics! Any more?

I know Stefan Leegwater will crap all over me for saying this, but I sure like Harry's truck with those 20'' wheels. Any more photos?
Cheers,
Barry

well when you say F8 cab 11 real fast it sounds like F11!!

Harry liked those tires as well.

convoy commander and packet commanders had there hands full keeping packets together and making sure no one got lost. The convoy was split into groups as to not cause too much of a traffic problem. Here we are joining up to roll into the Vernon army camp.

what better to haul a vintage halftrack than a vintage tractor unit.

Wow Man! Great to see familiar old faces! and familiar old grilles! Doesn't george have about the sweetest M37 on the planet! Man! I miss the Okanagan. Great shots, made me a little misty eyed seeing all y'all. That wasn't Scotty in the group pic on the right was it? (F.E. from 192 A.E.F. Abbotsford?)

the person on the right nearest the staff car is Cpl Barry McLeod of 15th Field Reg't RCA. He brought their M37 along. Barry was the driver of the gun tractor that carried Smokey Smith's coffin.

Next to him with the black hat is John Hawthorne, who's been around since Wolfe and Montcalm.

Default Freedom rote in 2005

Just a reminder of the first one back in 2005. Yes I liked those 20 inch wheels as i hit at least 60 mph on the way home, but to tall for the shift from 3rd to 4th.
