http://www.auctionarms.com/search/di...temnum=6512598 and this one will apparently still go bang. What fun.

Ryton Arms will have one:
http://wwww.rytonarms.co.uk/

as will Sherwood Armoury:
http://www.sherwoodarmouryltd.com/pages/1/index.htm

They are stunningly expensive for a deac though.

Theres also one(still goes bang but in .50 cal) on gunbroker.com, and one more (barrel cut and welded) on gunsamerica.com
The same guy who has the one on gunbroker.com, also has an Inglis Boyes available here: http://www.gunexchange.com/boys2.html

You guys are lucky in the US. It only takes money to get a Boyes. Here, we have to wait for a current owner to die before one becomes available.

If you are given a choice, find the earlier unmodified version with the round muzzle brake and the early bipod. The later flat style brake makes the rifle just a bit longer, so it doesn't fit into the carrier real well. Also the later bipod won't mount into the socket and clips under the auxillery battery box.

Now, let the debate begin: is it Boys or Boyes? I saw Boyes on the cover of an early manual. All the rifles I've seen just have R.B.mk1 and maybe the star.

Certainly the vast mass of references have it as "Boyes" although some claim this is a mis-spelling.

One official document at least has it as Boyes though:

Boyes' Anti-Tank Rifle
Small Arms Training
Volume 1 Pamphlet 5
1937

Ha, I wouldn't be surprised if it were easier to import boys than it would be to import a Boyes' Rifle! I'm sure that there would be lots of Judges and Politicians that would get right behind you.

Interesting that one of the US guns mentioned had been converted to .50BMG. The .50 cal round will chamber in a .55 Boyes, but would naturally be unsafe to fire. .50BMG blanks will however, fire quite safely in a Boyes' Rifle and it is possible to neck out widely available .50BMG cases to .55 to reload for the Boyes'. Strangely, despite not being able to own all sorts of other firearms, the .55 Boyes' Rifle is legal in Aust (It's regarded as a 5-shot bolt action rifle, naturally) and will occaisionally appear for between AU$2500 and AU$4000.

Guys, I have a Boyes I too got it for my Mk1 carrier.
It has been converted to .50 cal browning
Here in the U.S. no paperwork for a .50 Vs the .55cal and
.50 cal blanks are very easy to get so when I go to WWII reenacments I can shoot a the Jerrys.
A dealer here in Pennsylvania Just sold a Boyes monopod and round muzzle brake for $5,500 USD last week. I payed $4,600 for mine last year they are getting up there But with that boyes sticking out of the carrier it look like a wee tank very cool.

Easily imported; yes. It's the export thing from the US side thats hard. They are no longer entertaining the export of 50 cal (and larger) rifles, barrels, barrel blanks, ammunition components, other than to military museums, police agencies, and military users.
And there is a bill now before the US house of representatives to stop civilian ownership of 50cal sniping rifles even in the US, so the days of the 50 cal shooting may soon be over down there. California already banned the sale/transfer of 50s, and you know it will only get worse.
Here in Canada the Boyes is a non-restricted bolt action rifle, and there is no current talk of banning them, ( our current levels of gun control are still having PR and acceptance issues) although when certain models of the Barrets and Mcmillan 50s got banned 10 years ago, I think the liberals figure they got all the big ones and are content in their little nest of safety

Default Mounting Boyes

When mounting a Boyes Rifle in a carrier, did they use a Bren or Vickers pintle, or was it something completely different designed for the AT Rifle? The Boyes Monopod is secured through a mounting hole but id secured by a threaded screw, not a smooth pin. It would be cumbersome and time consuming to change from vehicle mount to monopod and vice versa.

Default Mk.1* Canadian

Speaking only for Canadian Mk.1 carriers, the Boys (or Bren) wasn't fixed to the carrier by any pintle etc. Where it points out through the opening in front of the commander, it rests on the rubber pad on the bottom and has a rubber strap that drapes over it and is secured to a stud on the inside. The butt of the gun is held by a bracket to the left when not use. Later, the rubber strap was replaced by a web one.

Default Boyes Rifle

The bipod rests against the angle iron (bullet splash rail?) in front of the gunner and simpl looks cool.
