| Delco-Remy Type 2B-12 Charging Unit

Does anyone know what a Delco-Remy Type 2B-12 Charging Unit looks like. It is listed in the Mk11 Daimler Armoured Car Manual. |

Neil, I believe I have just found some images in this link: http://www.hrc.org.au/files/Accelera...20RR%20OPT.pdf The applicable advertisement is on pages 8 and 9 of the actual .pdf which correspond to pages 72 and 73 of the original document. Colin |

Neil, I also found these two links: http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57851 http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedi...ry-power-plant The worthpoint link certainly gives some good images. Now that you can see the nomenclature on the data plate it might help with future searches. Colin |

Colin, Thank you for the work tracking down those links. I collect WW2 British Army generators and its not a model I have ever encountered. I can't imagine we acquired many and there are equivalent British manufactured models which would do the same job. I doubt if they actually saw use in British Armoured Cars. |

They were used in tanks along with the Tiny Tim, though the Tiny Tim seems to have been more popular.

That explains a lot as I originally assumed it to be a Tiny Tim. Quite where it was stored if indeed they were ever used on DAC is questionable. |

The tank (and presumably armoured car) version has a different setup to the one in the frame shown on the links above. No fuel tank on top, and a cover over it. The attached diagram is from the Churchill workshop manual. Incidentally I'll be looking for one (or more likely a Tiny Tim) to go with the tank, so if you happen to stumble across a spare of either I'd appreciate a nudge Last edited by Lauren Child; 27-07-16 at 00:31. |
