finally have all my photo's together, so i can start from the begining. started this project before i had a digital camera so it was a little tough getting some of my early picts together. this thread goes with the one in the softskin fourm titled 1941 ford 3 ton 4x4.

i started with the rear end. leaf springs were in need of some repair. replaced 3 broken springs, new bushings in the eyes. blasted and painted. rear drums were in good shape looked like they were never even turned (this truck had 36k on the odometer) rebuild wheel cylinders. i prefer to rebuild original equipment components if i can in stead of buying inferior new made components.

Hello Leo,

Good to see another civilian long nosed style military vehicle being restored. I look forward to keeping up with your progress

How far back does your restoration extend apart from the transition from film to digital cameras?

Do you know anything about the vehicle's history and what style of sides the tray had?

Have fun!

Kind Regards
Lionel

It's been about 8 years or so since I started. The first front axle I bought had some hidden damage. So it took a bit to find a suitable replacement. Once I found it I started back into it heavy. The history of the truck is limited. But it seems it was a fire truck for most if not all of it's life. It had 36 k on the odometer when I got it.the guy I bought it from took the pumper body off it and replaced it with a Ford script stake side bed. It was about 2 years before I started with digital Picts. I'm so far into it now that I'm gonna post some current Pict's to show where I'm at today. I hit a mile stone this weekend got the painted cab on the chassis

Default 41 Ford MH

Nice work Leo, beautiful truck, I wish I had saved a few that where around here, had two Rh drives with roof hatch's, if your doing a Marmon Herrington I do have some old date plates some where, if your interested I will have a look, I believe they are off the one ton short wheel base 4x4 with dual rear wheels.

Yes I would be interested in the plates. Their in much better shape than the ones I have. And since my truck is not an original conversion the number's are not important.

here are some more pictures of my progress. i had to cut so many of the old bolts off. i had to put the sheet metal on so i can figure out how many and what type of fasteners i'll need to put her together. i got the new glass and the wiring harness should be here next week. fingers crossed i can drive it (on the road) by the end of summer.
