Default Australian Guntractors

Can anyone fill in the gaps?

No.3 and 3a...Ford/MH.

No.6... CMP 13 cab 134" purpose built for towing a bofor and spares

No.8... CMP 13 cab 101" crew cab and side hatches

No.9... CMP 13 cab 101" crew cab and larger rear section

Was there a No.1,2,4,5 or No.7 Guntractor?

Australia built 17 pounders but what pulled them along?

Hi all
With my interest whetted on GTs, can someone expand on Wayne's thread. Also if possible designate Chevrolet or Ford.
Bob

this could be corrected but

#6 - Chev

#8 & #9 both chev and ford

and I am not sure what pulled the 17 pounders could have been GMC-CCKW's supplied on lendlease by the USA.

Default Aust GT's

These were not necessarily CMP or M/H based. I seem to recall that the AEC Matador that was used with the 3.7in AA gun had a "Number... (Aust)" version, but cannot recall what that number exactly was.: It's not certain, either, that the numbered Aust GT's were wartime production, No 1 and No 2 were possibly prewar.

Similarly with the 1/4 ton trailers:
No 1 was pre-war and not actually called a No 1;
No 2 was a low sided flat tray for carrying stretchers or supplies;
No 3, 3a, and 4 were Aust designed copies of Bantam Jeep trailers;
No 5 was the Land Rover box trailer of the 60's ,still in service today;
which shared many components with the RAEME trailers, which were'nt given a number!

Default No.4

I am pretty sure the N0.4 was a Bofors LAA tractor based on the M-H chassis . Much like the No.3 but with bins to carry the bofors ammo .

The 1939 M-Hsold last year at Shepparton was apparently originally a No.4 . It has since been fitted with a 1950's body from a Inter or similar . The original unit markings on the door were from a LAA unit .

Default C60X tractor

Wasn't there an experimental C60X tractor built as well? Was it Australian?

We also used other Canadian and British tractors including the cab 12 7A2 tractor, the Guy Quad Ant, Bedford QLB (similar to the No 6 CGT, which had the cab designation WO78).

I'm also provisionally saying WO93 was either a No 8 or No 9 CGT

For more info, see
