Default Windsor carriers

A long way from home but there are a couple here in Western Australia.
I'll check my pics to compare to your examples

Default Windsors

Hi Barry how you doing? Sold your T16 yet?
We have a Windsor up here in Scotland, and its for sale!! The guy is asking a bit too much I think but it is nice and complete with spares. Its £10,000 but could be negotiable I think!

You going to Belters? I might be struggling this year, had an unexpected major op which will take a fair bit of recovery. But next year I hope to bring my new Ford Transporter with carrier abroad down south and do Campaign and then Beltring shows.

According to W. Gregg, Blue Print for Victory, exactly 5,000 Windsor Carriers were produced. Like all production figures quoted it is extremely difficult to obtain an exact figure as many vehicles were used for research and prototypes, being taken from the main production line, but this is a reasonable figure to go by.

Regards
Nigel

Default Windsor Parts Up For Grabs

This advert appeared in the Convoy magazine a few months ago, and is still on the site ( although the forum is down at the moment).

The seller is a good guy, as are all folks from Manitoba:

TRADE: (trade only) 1 Windsor Carrier canvas tarp NOS. Will consider the following and others: Long Branch 303's Dewats, HUP penthouse tarp, a switchboard that mounts on the chorehorse cabinet in a HU-W or other trades.
Offers to Rob.

Barry, they are around, I think you'll find quite a few if you start looking for them. This one in the National War and Resistance Museum in Overloon, the Netherlands:

And here's a privately owned runner (possibly the one Nigel referred to):

If you are in need of a Windsor tarp, but do not have the parts Rob is willing to trade it for, see this MilWeb ad:

Here's another one of which the owner, Preston Isaac, is not afraid to get it dirty:

Default Windsor NOS tarp

I am still looking for trades only on this beautiful tarp. I have not had any bites on my trade only policy, I thought I would take the opportunity to up date my want list here. Wanted for trade: Of course I will take the Windsor Carrier itself if someone here in Canada has one to pass on my way! Also looking for anything Bofors/ CMP LAAT related such as shell casings, boxes, spare barrel, leveling jack cones, tools, 5 lug Mk 1 tire rims, original Bofors manuals, boxes sights, boxes spares, WWll camoflage netting, HUW map reading light dash mounted, lubrication data plate C-8A, Long Branch dewats, and the list goes on and on.

This list is also going to Convoy Magazine. I will once again urge all of you who frequent this forum to support our only Canadian Miliary Restoration magazine. Marc needs all of our support thru subscripitions , or it will fold, and that would be very sad for our great hobby. The effort he puts into it is unbelievable, but if it is costing him money, then that is our fault. Help this great mag out if you can. Cheers Rob
