Default Canadian M-59 APC

I stumbled across this image of an M59 APC that was being used by the Canadian Army during the Hurricane Hazel clean-up near Toronto in November 1954 and thought it may be of interest. The image is low-res but the "USA 4XXXXXXX" registration number can be seen on the side.

Would this have been lent to the Canadian Army for evaluation as a potential replacement for the Universal Carrier? The date seems to fit with the early stages of the Bobcat program and the Cambridge Carrier O.P. that survives at the S&P museum.

Note that the chap sitting on the far side of the APC is wearing a Glengarry.
