| F15a brake master cyl.

I did a search here and came up empty, so am just wondering if anyone has a aftermarket part # for the brake M/C on a '43 F15a? The one I took off had a 1 1/4 " bore but I am not sure that is correct. All the master cyls. in old civilian brake catalogs show 1 1/16 " bores. Likely doesn't make much difference, but what is everyone using for M/C's now? Thanks for any help,Dave

The current production Master Cylinder (1 1/4" Bore) is part number 4572. This number is common to various brands (Wagner, Raybestos, etc) and may use their prefix, eg WG4572, MC4572. A Google search will provide range of vendors (and prices!), but I also think Raybestos have a plastic fill cap and the Wagner uses a steel nut (larger than the original Ford), that might be something to keep in mind when comparing prices. |

I used to recommend rockauto for these, as they were available for around $35 each back then and someone like NAPA wanted $350. But I see NAPA has them under 4572 for retail $133 and trade price of $75.88. There is actually stock of one in Brandon. I still see them at reasonable prices from Rock auto, but to the point where shipping will put it over. Centric 13079001 and Dorman M4572 are the lesser priced examples. |

No, Chev Master Cylinder is a different design altogether. I think there have been threads about the modern unavailability of Chev style M/Cs due to the CMP having a style quite different to Civvy vehicles of the era, but a solution is possible with a close enough alternative. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28547 |
