Default 900X13/6 ND tires

I see Wallace Wade is advertising that he has this size coming soon. I was very happy with my 10.50 16's and he was great to deal with, delivering them at the MVPA convention and arranging for a skillful installer.
Are these the size that the C8 and f8 crowds are looking for? Would they fit a Bofors 40mm anti aircraft gun?

Sounds like it is. We had a fairly long thread a year or two back trying to find enough orders for Wallace to take interest in making these. Sounds like it may have worked. I know I will be in for a set, and will also not be so afraid of picking up an 8cwt in the future when the opportunity presents itself.

Default Bofors

Any idea of if they fit the Bofors gun carriage?

It is my belief that they do. I have a full set of originals on mine, and some spares in the back shed, but all are 60 years old. I can get any details off the sidewalls to compare with someone who has a set on an 8cwt to compare.

I'll be at the MVPA convention in a couple of weeks, and I'll mention to Wallace that I am in for a set or so. Hopefully if others do the same he will get to these.

Default Bofors tires.

Are the same size exactly as 8 cwt tires. My friend pulled off the tires (almost new) on my Bofors towing equipment and used them on his Ford 8 cwt.
Big time different rims though. Bofors rims look like car roms.

That's good news. I was wondering the other day about what was going on with this size, and hoping Wallace had not dropped the project.

Do you know if they are the same weight capacity as well as the same size? I'm away from reference materials right now.

Is there a conclusive answer on the thread pattern of these tyres yet? And Ply?

I talked to Wallace at the convention abut these tires. First off, he needs commitment for 100 of them before STA will make them. I told him that most of the guys would really like them to have the interupted chevron type thread, and he says he was told by STA that they thought the molds were for a US type nondirectional. They are not sure however. Wallace says the company has the molds in a pile of molds, but they are expected to clean up the pile soon and have a better look at them. Anyway, he asked about getting a photo of the tires so I sent him a photo of one of mine. He is going to forward it to STA for them to compare with the molds. I told him I would like that pattern of tire, but all in all I could not afford to be too choosy and would have to live with what they have.

So the big thing here is for guys to let him know you are interested, and in how many. The sooner the company has interest in 100, the sooner they will get around to making them. Email Wallace at wallacewade at earthlink.net and let him know.

Here are the photos I sent him:

Gentlemen,
A couple of years ago when I was in the midst of restoring my F8 I contacted Wallace about the chevron tread tyres. He advised that the plant up in PA had the original moulds and would consider a run if we could come up with orders for 100. I was able to ome up with committments for 69 over a several month period and when I got back to him, the minimum became 150. Sooooo, I sadly closed the file on that possible source. I, like the rest of you, have seen Wallace's advertising and do hope that something does come of it....

For more details on my contact with Wallace see my thread on 9.00 x 13 tires.

Best regards,
Jim
