Default C15A Frame crossmember

Hi CMP Fans

Another question is that my friend is on the transmission crossmember in the middle of the frame.
It seems to mount the winch on the artillery tractor ?
Sorry for the translation. I hope you understand what I write.
And thanks to all CMP friends that have left responses on the forum.
Special thanks to Hanno, and Keith Webb with its fabulous website has allowed me to learn many things from these wonderful vehicles.

Cordiales saludos

The crossmember with the large hole in it is for mounting the winch, not only on the artillery tractor but 'ANY' CMP that had a winch fitted.

That crossmember was fitted to the C15A whether a winch was fitted or not.
The F15A did not have that crossmember. Fords factory fitted with winches also had a double rear crossmember setup with larger fishplates.

Not sure about other Chev wheelbase models, perhaps a Chev expert can chime in here.

Luis,
Do me a favour.
Could you get your freind to swap the petrol tanks over, as I think you will find they are mounted on the wrong sides of the chassis.
Keith, Nothing to add as regards the Chev cross member
Regards
Keith

To my knowledge all 4X4 chev's regardless of the wheel base had the same cross member.

The lube charts for all the 4X4 model Chevs show the crossmember in place. The lube chart for the Chev 4X2 does not show it.

This C60L didn't have the crossmember fitted and when the winch was fitted for farm worke the crossmember behind the transfer case had a piece cut ot of it to let the driveshaft through.

Based on the parts books, there were only two types of C15A frames, either with frame rail reinforcement inserts or without. There is no mention of different crossmembers (C15As didn't officially have winches, as far as I know).
All of C30, C60S and C60L have reference to crossmembers that are used either with or without the winch.

Luis, could you post more photos of the welder/generator in the background of your photos?
Thanks,
Barry
