Mobilization
It was 80 years ago on 10 September 1939 that Canada declared war on Germany and it took many months of training, equipping and rearming in order to send an army overseas to fight. A shortage of barracks and training facilities for the growing army meant that many fairgrounds became military camps and Lansdowne Park in Ottawa was no exception. The passage of time may claimed these Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa but the Aberdeen Pavilion has changed very little over the decades.
