new canadian province?

with over 50,000 "canadians" in lebanon dont you think its about time to declare lebanon under the protection of the canadian military?

i think it would be easier to bring in 10,000 troops then to inconvienance the 50,000 and make them move.

You're assuming we have 10,000 infanteers to send over there! Last I heard The C.F. had 65,000 personnel of all types...that includes supply, admin, cooks, truck drivers, carpenters, mechanics etc. etc. If we sent that many troops to Lebanon it would leave Canada open to invasion from Sierra Leone, or Chad, or Luxembourg or some other nation more powerful than us!

I heard the figure of 37,000 bandied about on the radio this morning & thought I'd mis-heard, turns out I did.

The 65,000 figure also includes Navy and Air force. Last that I heard was there were 7,500 infantry types in the CF in nine battalions.

Here is an interesting remark from Billy Bishop during WWII.

As Bishop pins on the wings a short conversation ensues:

Groves: "Texas, sir."
Bishop: "One of our most loyal provinces."
