Default Canadian Carrier data plate replacement

An MLU contributor has developed a method of reproducing data plates containing the specific details of an individual Canadian production series of Universal Carrier.

Each plate is custom produced with the data input as requested by the individual owner. That would include the model, serial number, hull number, engine number, contract, month and year of production.

The 'Publications' plates are also being produced.

Were the originals made from aluminium ? If so they would have fallen off due to dissimilar metal corrosion. This would explain why they are more often missing than not. If they are steel plates I bet the rivets holding them were of different metal... Same problem occurs.

Yep, I believe they are aluminum. I recall recovering armour with the lube plate on it from up North, and by the time Gord went to use the armour the plate had corroded off.

Are the originals a zinc material?

You may be right. Whatever they are, the elements do love eating them away if given a chance.
