Default National Film Board

Although in French, there is some great film showing 1940 15-cwt at the 6 minute mark. Note that these are the 4x2 CMP with 2A1 bodies.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone published a book with all of the variants in it, so that we can better appreciate the differences. Perhaps by Christmas?

Default Wonderful footage....

Some comments and questions....

First of all thanks for posting....

At the very beginning is a quaint little Quebec village......any body knows where.... or that quaint little Quebec church....has to be near Valcartier.....could make for some nice Summer weekend trip trying to find the exact location.

That quaint little village with dirt road ....I am sure.. 99,9 % sure that we have seen that same background ( previously posted on MLU ) on some still photos of that same location with Canadian soldiers marching in single file. I think the leading officer had a small pencil mustache... possibly soldiers wearing the leather jergens ....... and that picture may have been sold as a photo of somewhere in Europe.....

Tried but could not make out the signage on the truck doors... excecpt maybe C A R F on the first line....letter in the middle series of numbers on bottom line

Men those french guys sure like knocking down small saplings or maybe that was the driver training 101.....

Silly to see all the TO DO about a French regiment then all the orders and signage is in English...... Political correctness did not exist yet !!!!

...and finally are drinking very small Cokes or very small draft beers ????

Another interesting NFB product was their documentary of the 1950 Flood in Winnipeg. It used to be available in VHS format bit I do not know if it's availability has since been updated. Great shots of HUP's at Portage and Main and a lineup of DUKW's at a local community centre. Two of those DUKW's were still alive and well in the province up until just a few years ago. I think both are now in the USA somewhere.

Not quite sure why those 8cwts were driving into trees instead of around them...unless for theater.

Still, great stuff.

Military drivers still prefer to drive through the trees instead of around them.....really pisses off the mechanics.
