You are right on the M4 and M4A1..but ![]() ![]() I wonder if he has a M4A6 with the Radial diesel engine..If so...Good luck..There were only 100 of them made at the end of the war..Rare Only ran into the manual once ,owned by a chap in Urrup..Wouldn't sell it to me... There was no M4E9 as far as I know.. There was a M4A2E9,like "Bart" but they had twin 6-71 GM Diesels in the power pack..

Hi again this is what we have found out so far on the E9

An M4 Sherman, fitted with a Continental R975 radial engine. What makes this M4 rare, is that it is the so-called Hybrid, as the hull is of composite construction: cast front end, welded flat plate rear end. Also, it has small driver's hatches, whereas most of the other surviving Hybrid I's have large driver's hatches. Obviously, during the latter part of the war (or early after) it was rebuilt (E9), when the track system was modified to accept extended end connectors on both sides of the tracks (as currently fitted, some have regular tracks as the extended end connectors are vulnerable). In British service this tank would have been designated: "Sherman Hybrid I" cheers Adam |
