Default Canvas HUP hatch covers question

Hi ALL

I'm working on making full sized CAD drawings as pattern for the canvas hatch covers as used on the later Pattern 13s in particular I'm working on 24" diameter HUP cover I have the original cover from my 1945 HUP which is in very good condition to take dimensions and figure out how it was fabricated the order in which the parts are sewed together. The drawings are to add to the collective knowledge about CMPs and I will post the drawings.

Now the question

My cover is missing one bit, this is the pull cord (like a draw string) that runs around the cover in the lip then down through the two holes in the roof to be secured or tied. From the pictures it looks to be a flat woven strap/belt approximately ½ wide. Dose anybody have a original cover with the original draw string to confirm the dimensions.

(The one on my broke soon after I got my HUP back in 1978 replaced it with ½ hemp rope. On the two replacement covers I’ve made over the years I have used ½ wide nylon climbing strap as a substitute.)

Cheers Phil
