Default Can you please identify this jeep ?

The other night I was watching the history channel and I saw this picture but I have no idea what type of vehicle it is. I see a jeep left rear quarter panel and what looks like a Jeepster front end. Can anyone identify it?

What was the context of the broadcast?

I see the seat is quite low. Ordinarily there is a fuel tank under the driver on an MB/GPW.

It was a still picture the story I think was about WWII. I think it does look like a Jeepster but the quarter panel is wrong. It doesn't look like a newer picture and I think it was depicting war time photo.

Default Well you can see......

..... the vertical post of the rear window and the folded top........ but that side panel must have been photoshopped or the driver has the wheel well right up his ass............

That looks a lot like a Bosch Semapore/trafficator. What about the front end of a German car married to the rear of a Jeep by some motorpool guys?

I think Alex is on the right track.

1. That does seem to be a Bosch trafficator, an old one as seen below.
2. The cowl and windscreen are not "Jeep" but rather some sort of passenger or light commercial vehicle front end.
3. The front and rear upholstery is leather or leatherette and the rear seat is a full length bench seat, not the short Jeep one.
4. The top/hood folding mechanism does not resemble a Jeep.
5. The only thing "Jeep" about the photo is the small portion of body and the grab handle is in the right place and the fender/mudguard cutout looks proper.

Probably a "bitsa" assembled post war I would imagine.

Bill

Default Modified jeep

If you look at the back it has padded fluted seats then there is the civvy style windscreen. There were a number of conversions done in Germany 1945 on civilianising jeeps by US personnel and this looks like one of them. The attached photo is representative.
cheers
Bill.
