Nice find Clive. The photo description is somewhat misleading though, as these are not QLR's. The pictures seem to be of an ex-portee rebuilt to a GS truck, after the portees became obsolete. The soft-top on the cab was retained.
I remember seeing pics of these type of trucks on period photo's in Italy and also in the Netherlands (also from Austin K5's which received the same treatment) Alex

Interesting that it is also described as "Flash Spotting Tower". A description that is mentioned in one or two books/articles on Bedford QL bodies but none with photos or full description. I wonder if any of the other photos show the tower errected.

There is a photo of these towers on QL's in Bart Vanderveen's Bedford military vehicle book. They were not contained within bodies. I think that caption on the Ebay photo is from one of the other photos. The one shown on Ebay is a rebodied Portee (converted to GS) by looks of it.
