Need to decipher markings
I am half way thru my restoration of
a C15A Cab 12 from the southern Alberta area. I am about to start the body work and took pics of some markings as I will probably add those back on as close as possible when I repaint. The right front fender has a 7 in diameter cowboy on a bucking bronc is this familiar or a possible later add on?? The left front fender has a 7X7 in hand painted orange square with (I believe) " 10" on it. Both doors have markings as shown in the last photo and these are the ones I really want to know about! Any help would muchly be appreciated as I want return this truck to as close as original. Thanks again Terry |

41st (Reserve) brigade group was the brigade name/number attached to the Alberta militia in Feb of 42. The Z underneath it was normal for a 15cwt Cargo truck, and the numbers underneath that were the typical DND army truck numbers used from 42/43 time period. They were normally 2 digits with a dash and then 3 digits. example: 54-321. This format replaced the earlier format of year followed by 1 followed by sequential number up to 4 digits. example 41-1-1234 .
I can't make out the other lettering. Last edited by rob love; 13-12-12 at 15:22. |

Markings
The Rider and the horse were also on My Bren Carrier. Colin Stevens has an outline of it on His Web Quote M. D. 13 (Alberta & NWT in WWII) Cowboy on bucking bronco. Dark green circle, red thin circle near outer edge. Brown and red cowboy and horse. From a September 11, 1944 "Vehicles markings" official Canadian Army document.
