Good Day, I am looking for a pintle mount for my M38A1 gun mount, seen in this picture.

Our man Rob would be my first call, but he's luxuriating overseas as a money grubbing contractor. That is his picture after all. But in mind of his temporary absence from civilian society, ever thought about welding one up yourself. It might not be far off the truth for an issue item. FWIW, the piece is a simple three sided plate yoke with a plug on the base. I can email you photos with dimensions, if you are so inclined.

The pintle cradle is removeable from the arm. It is not highly finished and something an ordinary machine shop could fabricate with stock materials. The construction is a 7/32" steel U-channel 4 5/8" tall, 3" outside width, 2 1/2" inside width and 2 1/2 front to back. Hidden in Rob's picture is a solid plug that fits into the top of the arm. It is 1 1/4" dia bar welded to a hole centred in the bottom of the cradle. The plug has a chamfer on the bottom edge to slide easily into the arm. Finally it has a machined 3/8" half round groove the bottom lip of which is 1" from the cradle. (That is easier than trying to measure the centre of a groove and converting to 16ths of an inch.) The overall measurement of the plug is 1 1/2" from the cradle. The only other finishing touch is a relieved 1/2" through hole for the machine gun mounting bolt. Measure down 1" from the top of the U, and in 7/8" from the edge. Because this is the only hole, it fits the gun either way.

Thanks I will try to build one, then I will have to find a dummy C5 (m1919) for the mount.
