Default Winches - GMC vs Diamond T

Can someone tell me if the front winch on a GMC CCKW 6x6 is the same type as fitted to Diamond T 6x6 trucks? I need one for both and have found two for GMC's but do they fit the Diamond T?

Good day Jack
The short answer is no,the Diamond T one is a bit bigger in the drum. The chassis' are different widths as well, which affects the mountings.I do know where there are some Diamond T winches or used to be a couple of years ago.If you are interested I could check but freight would be a killer getting the winch to you.
Cheers Ken

Default DT winch

Ken,

Would appreciate it if you could see if they are still in existence.
Also looking for a good bumper bar and six wheels.

Diamond t wreckers (969A) have a 15 000 pound winch and GMC have a 10 000 pound one.
Not sure about the Tank transporters (980)
Sorry don't have a winch but I have a lot of other parts for Wreckers.
What Diamond do you have?

A few parts I have for sale just off the top of my head.
Rear body,
Fuel tank
air cleaner
diff centres
gearbox
radiator and grill
Lot of other parts.
Cheers
Jeff

Hi Jack,
Sorry I missed where you said you needed a bumper.
I have a bumper for sale.
I would have to take a photo of it for you.
I am driving down to Vic in late June.
Might be able to deliver.
Sorry on good wheels for sale.

Cheers
Jeff

Default Cab ventillator

Any bits of Tri-Master Cab ventilator to hand ?

I got an outer shell of one from Rex Cadman, but I could do with the internal hatch, lever, whatever. Basically any parts you may have spare that would be postable to Scotland.

Gordon

Hi Gordon,
I had never heard of a tri-master ventilator before so I had to check my maintenance manual.
Is it the roof mounted vent on a closed cab?
you learn something new every day.
Mine and the spare cab I have are open cabs so sorry.

Cheers
Jeff

Default No problem Jeff

If you run across one let me know.

That ventilator was used on a range of trucks but was most common on a T.

Drove a friends open cab wrecker for years, liked it, but got a hankering for an M26A1 if the lottery pays off

Jeff,

Would like to see photo of your bumper and be interested in buying it. Unfortunately I will in south america during june but my son Jake will be around if you would like to bring it down. I have a 969a hard cab wrecker but it is missing all the rear body and wrecker gear. I am going to restore it as a cargo body. It is still in Queensland so I haven't got it just yet. I have a new (rebuilt) engine that has just arrived from Sam Winer in the States to pick up next week and a set of tyres on the way. Just on the lookout for any missing parts that I can grab as they come up now rather than later before we get started on the restoration.

Hi Jack,
Wow that will be a rare vehicle here in Oz.
I don't think there is any cargos here?
Where in Qld is it?
It may easier to put it on the truck than carring to down.
Its funny last year I drove to Corowa with a Diamond T front bar.
Sold it to poor old Don Vallis for a wrecker he was restoring.
Have you got any photos of it?
I will get a photo of the bar this weekend.
Cheers
Jeff
