Default Aussie Haflinger pictures wanted

Hi all,

I am after any pictures of Aussie Army Haflingers, since there were only a small amount of them in service I am trying to locate a "in service" picture of mine, the vehicle I own is ARN 101 858.

I know that it is a long shot, however I am also chasing an original Aussie Army canvas canopy for the Haflinger.

Try the Australian Army Survey Corps (I think they have been absorbed into another corps Engineers, Logistics???). They were based in Albury.

I think they were the main users of these vehicles. They were the only ones I saw operating them in my time in the Army. A bit like amphibious jeeps - when everyone saw them they just had to have one but once they got it they did not know what to use the damn thing for.

I think there are a couple of Haflingers at the Bandianna Army Museum (Albury-Wodonga area) still in service colours. MLU member Ian Pullen would know as thats his baliwick, may be worth giving him a PM.
Terrific little things.
Rich.

Peter,

I might have a lead on some photos. Just snapshots taken in the field (Tasmania I think) by a mate who was in Survey Corps in the 70's. He says he will get back to me. Will keep you posted.

In my search I found out there were only 16,000 Haflingers built in their whole production life and the Australian Army ordered 50 but there is some doubt all 50 were taken into service.

Hi all,
Thanks to all the replies, I have a copy of the ARN list and it appears that there were 45 vehicles and 45 trailers.
Please keep the information coming, it is all appreciated.

Default Civy sales

I have a little 4 page extract from Power Farming Aug.70.
It was a hand out from from the distributors in Springvale Victoria. I have their Pinzgauer 6x6 leaflet too somewhere.
There is a big batch of Power farming mags on Epay currently that I think should have the full road test.
Item Number 200272135098
Cheers,
Graeme

Default Haffies....

We do have one on display and a couple of others packed away for a rainy day. One which includes the most bizarre flotation device known to man.

It probably weighs more than the vehicle.

We had one at the Denny Ute Muster a few years ago and it raised more than a few eyebrows as it easily surpassed the off road capabilities of many of the individuals who had spent BIG dollars on suspension set ups on their Hiluxs and Cruisers etc.

We have a spare (NOS) cabin canvas or two as well if you are still interested.

Firey ,
I have dug up the Parts manual its a Repair Parts Scale for Truck, Utility,1/4 Ton,G.S, Lightweight . Haflinger 700 aptl Issue 1 May 1969 . Let me know if you need any exploded parts views the manual covers everything as far as i can tell including the trailers that were used with them .

Hi Firey - I found the attached image on the net. Won't help you much other than give a better image of one with its canvas. An associate of mine had one that I thought I had images of, but he has since sold it on. I'll get in touch with him to see if he has any knowledge of the canvas side of it.
