Different Canadian toolboxassemblies...why?

The other day I took up the offer of the plans etc to build the toolbox assembly on offer by George on MLU. To my dismay, I have now discovered that there are two different types of toolbox assemblys and when looking through my reference pictures that I have collected off various websites, there appears to be no pattern as to what truck had which toolbox.
Which toolbox was the early one? or, were they made by two different companies? or, left over items assembled onto trucks in any order?
In time I would like to mount a Canadian toolbox/tyre carrier onto my Dad's Canadian bodied C15A with Aust sunshine roof.
I have attached two photos from oldcmp.com that depict the different style of toolbox.

Here is another picture depicting a slightly different toolbox, the different appears to take into account the fuel filler, but which toolbox assembly went onto what truck? and why/how?

I have sent out over 25 sets of plans .The tool box plans I sent out were for the later box . There is a couple of ways to make the clamps One is to make a set of molds out of reinforce cement useing a clamp to form the inside and out side molds Then use a big press to shape the metal .The clamp is 1/8 " sheet iron .Greese the iron well on both sides before pressing . The other way is to make a mold out of steel which will require some machineing . If 25 fellows are going to make tool boxes that's 50 clamps .And I'm sure there is alot more would like some also . I have seen the ones that were welded and they didn't apeal to me very mutch .Now if some one would lke to take on this prodject it sure would save alot of sweat and make alot of restorers happy ..
