Ex Cdn PRC-25 Backpack and Vehicular Kit
Up for sale is a complete Canadian issue PRC-25 Backpack and Vehicular Installation set, consisting of the following items:
- AN/PRC/25 compete with two spare batteries, backpack and antenna quiver with all parts in good working order. - Vehicle Mount MT-1029. - Amplifier Power Supply AM/2060/GRC. - Antenna Matching Unit MX 2799/VRC. - Base Antenna Support AB-719/VRC - Lower Antenna Element AT-1096/VRC - Upper Antenna Element AT-1095/VRC - Antenna Connector Cable - GRM-55 Test Test - PRC-25 Manual TM-11-5820-398-12 - Test Set Manual/w Supplements TM-11-6625-514-12 The basic PRC 25 Backpack Set and Vehicle Mount are ex 2VP, when they were based in Winnipeg. The rest of the vehicular kit was assembled over time from US and Canadian sources. Many of the items are NOS. The set itself was part of a small, early purchase of 25-Sets from the USA by the Canadian Army. Canada switched very quickly to subsequent PRC-77 Sets, the only difference being the 77-Set was full solid state. The earlier 25-Set had a tube driven amp module in it. Surviving 25-Sets in Canadian Service were modified to 77-Set standard by switching to the solid state amp module and the data plates from these sets were removed to avoid confusion down the road. This is one of those sets. In the early 1970’s, local Militia Units had a display at a Winnipeg Mall. In that display was an M38A1 Series vehicle with the PRC 77 vehicle installation set up on top of one of the rear wheel wells. Cannot recall which side. Asking $2,200.00 Canadian, plus shipping. Note, the Amp/Power Supply and radio are heavy and the two antenna sections are long. Shipping will very likely be in more than one package. David |

Hello Rob and welcome to the Forum.
The PRC-25/77 series is truly an amazing piece of kit design! It’s versatility snuck up on me over many years. From the basic back pack setup, you can add to the kit with so many options, including a 150 foot longline horizontal aerial. Sitting in the 6 metre Amateur Band, things are pretty quiet there, unless you own an older generation cordless phone or baby monitor, but the set can talk to the C42 Set and the American RT 66/67/68 series sets with no problem. Good luck with your parts hunt. David |
