Stolly for Sale NZ
MK2 Stalwart on E-bay. Pricey $25000 for a non swimmer, but are few and far between in this hemisphere.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ex-Military-S...item4150e07fc2 "Alvis stalwart MK2 . Ex British army. 6x6 / four wheel steer. Awesome off road ability. Originally amphibious and with some work could be made a swimmer again (the Army removed driveshafts to the Dowdy jets and steering rods). Good runner and driver. Not museum piece, I drive it! See youtube.com and type in Stalwart to see one in action. Dimensions 2.62m wide/ 2.4m high/ 8500kg unladen /5000kg payload. Rolls Royce sraight 8 petrol ,easily converted to LPG. 10,000kg Hydraulic winch ,needs cable and linkage freeing up User handbook and service manual. Truck is in Nelson NZ. I can organise shipping. " Never heard of a B Series being put on gas, so not sure if it is an "easy" or suitable conversion. There was some confusion if they could run on Unleaded let alone LPG. My vote for best looking Military Vehicle ever. Rich.

Rolls Royce did make gas versions of B range engines and I have seen a list of factory orders, showing them fitted in all kinds of applications from standby generators, trucks, buses, etc. As for running on unleaded, RR released a statement, quite some years ago now, showing it not to be a problem, providing minor timing adjustments were made.

Hi Richard,
Hmmm, I've never heard of the gas engine before. Yes I have, just did some last minute reading " B Series commercial engines were also developed to run on either natural gas or propane, and in this form were installed in standby generator sets. These engines were identified by the inclusion of a "G" suffix, eg B81G" (Pat ware, "In National service") Never heard of anyone fitting a gas conversion either, which is surprising given their prodigious thirst. I have considered doing it to the Humber, but would like to see someone else do it first! I think Doug Greville (on his website) has a copy of the letter from Rolls Royce cofirming the use of Unleaded fuel. I would have thought the B Series predated the use of leaded fuel, so that has never concerned me too much, most of the Champ guys over here run a fuel supplement just in case though. Rich.
