siren?
Just a question,and maybe someone out there knows the answer.What is the purpose of the siren on American tanks, like the Sherman, Stuart, etc.? I have read in the tech manuals only that there is a switch for it near the driver, but not what use it is for . Thanks

Sirens on US armour
I've seen mention of it somewhere that this was a US army safety requirement for convoys going through towns.
You might get better luck on one of the US forums like G505.  Mike
