Default Great CMP tourist day down under!!

This morning, watching a tourist documentary from OZ,on a French Canadian TV station, they did "The Balloons of Bagan, which I have since learned is the country of Myanmar(Burma) and what should appear taking tourists to a balloon ride,a CMP red and white bus, which, after a little searching on the web, turns out to be the same bus shown on the OLD CMP .Net.Then this evening,on the same channel,I'm watchimg another tourist film entitled "The Beach Patrol of Bomdi",wherever the hell that is in OZ,and what should appear om the beach, none other than a red CMP C-15 with a frame built in the back tray holding six rescue surfboards.Last Saturday, while watching the flood situation on the Yamaska River south of Montreal, again on the French news network, they show a scene where people are filling sandbags at a pile of sand in a paved shopping cemter parking lot and loading them omto flatbed pick-up trucks. The film was being taken from a news helicopter, and what do I see,the damn elusive blue CMP C-15,with a snowplow attachment on the front, that I've seen before om my travels down there, but could never remember where I'd seen it.(Note to Self-Brome Lake-Eastern Townships).I'm getting CMP vaporized.

Default Beach Patrol

Bondi (pronounced bond-eye) is an eastern suberb of Sydney. All the state capitals have beaches like Bondi. Only Canberra is inland. That is so we can't smell the politicians.

Default Balloons over Bagan

Sounds like a great night to be watching the TV, Garry!

Ah yes, the Bagan page of pics...

These were sent to me by Andy Davey, who works as a Balloon pilot. He said when taking pics of the trucks from the balloon he has to be careful not to go off course and knock a spire of a temple which he said would make the Burmese crack a sad.

And then there's this page which has a number of pictures I took in 1977.

What a place for CMP eco-tourism! I should be arranging tours there!

Default Marree Blitz

Yes it is, Richard, and it's often mistaken for Tom Kruse's Burdsville Track vehicle. It an excellent low-mileage C60L and was acquired for the 1986 150th of South Australia where Tom Kruse was involved re-enacting the Birdsville Mailrun. This was NOT the one I made a documentary about; that run happened in 1999.
Tom actually drove it around a paddock a few times for the cameras back in '86 and after the event it was donated to the local progress society which managed to ruin the engine in a very short space of time and since then it has sat opposite the pub on flat tyres looking rather sad for itself.
It was briefly joined in 2004 by Jeff Fullwood's homage to Tom in a trip he made in his C60L coinciding with the 50th celebrations for the launch of the Back of Beyond.

Jeff's C60L which he drove across the Simpson Desert.

Keith,

ahh, I thought so, remember it when we stopped at Marree while on Trackers 2000, convoying to Alice from Adelaide. I looked a little sad then.

Default The 1986 trucks

This is the Marree Chev as seen in 2004:

Below is the second truck used in the re-enactment of 1986.

I photographed it at Lyndhurst in 1998.
