Trying to determine what exactly is the contraption attached to the copula in the following photographs. I thought it might be for AA, but a map board mount has been suggested. Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

Humber Armoured Cars had two spikes on the roof to mount a similar map board so I would suggest the same.

Neil, I think you got it right - thanks!
A Humber photo search gives a similar structure: ![]() Now you say the board was fitted over a pair of stakes- I gather the latter are welded in place? So the board is removable, and has no variable position option when in place? regards, Jack |

Correct and that looks like my old Humber.
One caution from memory it does not feature in any Humber Parts List and I made the frame on mine. It could double as a windscreen with a sheet of perspex bolted on but did the army care that much about creature comforts at the time. |

Neil, so you are saying this particular piece of equipment was a field modification, not a factory made part?
Was it attributed in any particular vehicle, such as a commander or artillery observer assignment perhaps? Thanks again, Jack |
