RAF QL crash tender
This is captioned 'RAF CRASH TENDER C. 1944' however surely it's a post-war rebuild? Those black wheels look atypical private company rebuilders. Last edited by David_Hayward (RIP); 06-09-05 at 13:08. |

As for the black wheels, post-war RAF vehicles were painted Blue/Grey on bodywork with wings, chassis and valances in semi gloss Black paint (see R.A.F. Ground Equipment Blue - paint specification). H. |

I am pretty sure this QL was converted for the States of Jersey airport fire service. Seem to remember it was in one of Bart's books as well. At Beltring this year, as a QL owner, a guy came round to see me as he is writing a book on the QL and mentioned this vehicle and photos of it. As it happened, two friends from Jersey were there, and they had both worked on the airport fire service. They knew of the QL but it was before their time. Richard |
