Default Cab 11 Engine Cover Panels

I have these 11 cab engine panels (driver side shown). Much the same as any other 11 cab engine covers, but they have a baffle plate spot welded to the inside, which I have not seen before. They look factory fitted, not a modification.

Any thought on the purpose of these baffle plates?

Owen.
