When I looked it up on p.111 of Crismon's U.S. Military Wheeled Vehicles, it turned out to be the other way round, actually: "Wooden-bodied station wagons were perhaps no longer being procured in the US for military use, but in India things were different. Shipped from the US in "CKD" (completely knocked down) mode, this Dodge was assembled by local labor in Calcutta, India.
