Default Colour

That old chestnut again!

Recently the AWM had two Ford CMPs restored, a 1942 F15A and FGT No9 and after research chose to paint them black. I have seen chassis with black under the khaki.

However other engines I've seen in original vehicles have been painted matt khaki as is the rest of the vehicle. Evidence from factory photographs tends to support this too. I painted Chris' F15 engine and gearbox in the vehicle colour. Air cleaners, starter, generator and oil filler pipe are black.

Ultimately of course it's your choice as you're the one who has been through the hard yards of cleaning them.
