Scans of the data sheets for the Carter carburetors referenced in the C15A parts manual are attached. These data sheets are Canadian editions (see top, left corner). The information for the 387S, W1-518S and W1-518SA is all grouped on one sheet and appears to be unique to Canadian production based on the "Dept. of National Defence Special Vehicles only" terminology. The information for the W1-589S is on a separate sheet. The W1-589S is listed as being used on 216-270 CID engines which fits with this carburetor being listed in the parts listing for both the C15A and C60X (I didn't check all others).

The sheet for 387S, W1-518S and W1-518SA mentions number 329 being stamped into the face of the carburetor base that faces the intake manifold while the sheet for the W1-589S gives the stamped number as 541 (which matches the photo in the post to follow), which does match the carburetor I bought as NOS W1-589S from Brian Asbury.

Due to the different air cleaner mounting, I am certain that the originally shown carburetor is not a W1-589S.

The prices shown seem incredible now, under $20 for a complete, new carburetor (less $2.50 if you have one to exchange) and $1.07 for the gasket set. Imagine how little $20 would buy in the way of new carburetor parts today.....
