There were 3 types of diff couplings used on the LP2/2A Carriers.
This particular one at the time only had one half of the Muff type on the diff, and he had located a Carrier gearbox with only one half of the Hardy-Spicer rubber disc type.
Despite requests on MLU at the time, I don't think the owner ever found a matched pair of any type of coupler.
