Default Ford 300CID engine....

The Ford 300CID engine that I am aware of is a 6 cylinder inline OHV that was produced for many years, at least until the mid 90s for the North American market. It gave adequate (but not sporty) performance in trucks up to 10,000 lb GVW and could be acceptable but a bit slow if suitably geared in trucks two or three times that weight. It was quite a bit longer than the flathead normally found in CMPs and most automatic transmissions are also longer than the manuals in CMPs so I think that the people doing the conversion would also have had to move the transfer case unless they mounted the engine well forward of stock location. The photo is not adequate to guess which they did, at least to my eyes.
