Default Australian War Memorial: Treasures from a Century of Collecting

Just a quick 'heads up' about a new hard cover book from the AWM. Over 600 US-letter sized pages of gloss paper, full colour throughout, and plenty of well-printed images in both colour and monochrome. The book leads the reader through the inception of the AWM and each phase and facet of the collection as it stands today.

Just received mine, so I've only had time to have a glance at it so far. But it certainly looks like author Nola Anderson (Assistant Director, National Collections, and recently, Acting Director) has done a first class job, ably assisted by many staff members. This is a real 'browse' book: lots of individual stories from the broad range of conflicts and peacekeeping in which Australia has been involved.

I think it retails for around $80 AUD. I wouldn't like to think what the postage would be to overseas destinations: it is a weighty piece of work, to say the least!
