Default 1 st radio test with 12 Ft aerial

I had a strong & clear signal 5/5 from CHU Canada on 3300 Mhz . The transmitter is located near Ottawa ( Nepean ) Ontario 418 Km away as the bird flies from the truck . Pretty impressive . The power of the transmitter is 3 Kw ( a lot compared to the 250 /1000 W of many amateur radio sets ) on that freq but still it was mid day and conditions are not the best at that time . That with the standard war time 3 piece antenna ! I used the standard base with wooden spacer and spring clip to hold the antenna rod thight . I used house power so the power supply was grounded to the outlet . When i īll use the batteries i will ground the truck . I did not try running the truck engine nor the generators while operating the radio , another thing to try later .
